electronics company Pioneer's redesign in 1999:
This was their logo from 1970-1998:

The ohm symbol and the tuning fork is nice.

Yup! A very clever way to show the connection between music and electronics!
The new logo looks generic, cheap-ass anything

At least their new logo matches their new quality.

Exactly!

I do love the old logo, which I've never seen until just now.
Sad...

I still have the old logo on my geek collectable, a molded plastic nametag from my days of being overhelpful. Nowadays they just get out the label printer.

Pioneer's is definitely bad, but, in their defense, it was 1999, and that looks pretty appropriate for the era.
As for the worst, though, I think Wacom still has them beat.

Eh?
Do you even own a Kuro or Kuro Elite or Elite Receiver?
Generic and cheap is the last thing that matches any of their products even though they shut down the TV end of things...

Arby's for sure.
3d hat and 2d text? Wat?
That western font is the only uniqueness Arby's had, and they cut it.

They are redesigning it...again... after less than a year.

Arby's is a right hand mitten. Hamburger Helper is a left-hand glove.

The Pioneer logo isn't bad when you compare it to the updated GAP logo.
Yikes. They went back to their old logo after everyone (and I do mean everyone ) pretty much laughed at it.
[I'm in the advertising/design profession so I know of a plethora of bad logo updates]

I was waiting for someone to bring that one up!

What made the situation even worse was the story about the entire project being 'crowd-sourced'.
